Steps to Take if Print Quality is Poor after Replacing the Cartridge

Ellen Davidson
Printing is a job that sometimes can be very frustrating simply because the printer sometimes doesn’t do what you want it to do. You might take a number of steps to try and fix the printer and tell it what to do, but then it might turn out that those steps did nothing and the situation might just end up frustrating you further. It is quite easy to get trapped into a negative feedback cycle emotionally when you are trying to deal with printers and ultimately if you are trying to fix a problem with one of your printers, it might turn out that the method that you use to fix it turns out to be ineffective in the first place.

Replacing the cartridge on your printer should be considered a last resort, but sometimes a necessary one. This might happen either because all of the strategies that you’ve gone through in order to get the printer cartridge to work properly have failed or because you’ve noticed right away that the cartridge is damaged and beyond repair. There are a number of reasons as to why it might come to the cartridge needing to be replaced and since replaced cartridges will have less wear and tear on them than the one you were using, having to replace your cartridge is not necessarily that bad of a thing to have to do.

But sometimes that doesn’t work as well. It is quite possible that you might go out and spend some of your money on a replacement cartridge only to come back and place the cartridge into your printer and find out that the print quality is just as poor with the new cartridge as it was with the old one. Fear not, there are a number of different things that you can do in order to get your printer quality back up to where it was before you ran into problems with your cartridge.

Firstly, it might be a matter of your print cartridges not being aligned properly with either the holder or with the paper. Printer software packages now come with mechanisms that can self correct that and therefore if you happen to have multiple cartridges in your printer (or if you have one with a nozzle position that can be moved), go ahead and run the printer alignment software in order to fix that problem.

If it turns out that the printer nozzle wasn’t the problem, then you should get the printer to run a self diagnostic on itself. Self diagnostic software should either come with the printer, or can be found online from the manufacturer’s website. While that diagnostic is running, you can make sure that you weren’t unlucky enough to be the recipient of a clogged cartridge by repeating all the steps with the new cartridge that you did for the old. If none of these steps ultimately work, then you might be stuck for a solution you can achieve yourself and the help of someone like a professional printer technician might be needed.

Removing Dried Ink From Your Cartridge Head
Companies from Hewlett Packard (HP) to Epson to Canon and many others have all now come out with what is known as recycled cartridges. These recycled inkjet cartridges are essentially the types of cartridge that you can either refill yourself at home or alternatively cartridges that you can send in to companies like Hewlett-Packard for them to refill themselves. Hewlett-Packard inkjet cartridges nowadays for example are usually going to be refillable simply because the cost of HP inkjet cartridges has gone up so much that it really is not worth buying a new cartridge each time the printer inks run out. more

Priming a Printer Cartridge
There are a number of different problems that might occur to a person when they are in the process of using their printer to print and the unfortunate truth of the matter is that a number of them are quire common. Regardless of what type of ink cartridges you are using, the printer cartridges that you currently have in your printer can experience a number of different problems. Now, different problems might cause the same symptom and one of the biggest symptoms of a problem when it comes right down to it in the printing world is the printer cartridge head being clogged. There are many things that might be able to cause it, but it is the clogging that you are eventually going to have to deal with if you want to print well again. more
